Arabic KUNAFA (WITHOUT OVEN)

Try this creamy delicious and yummy Arabic desert that will melt in your mouth giving you a hearty satisfaction of something unique.

Ingredients for Arabic KUNAFA (WITHOUT OVEN)

For Cream

1 cup Milk (approx 250 ml)

2 Tbsp Sugar

2 Tbsp Cornflour

1/4 Tsp Vanilla Essence

4 Cubes Cream Cheese (80 Gms)

For Sugar Syrup

1/2 Cup Water (125 ml)

1/2 Cup Sugar (100 gm)

1 Tsp Lemon Juice

1 Tsp Kewra Water/ Rose Water

For Vermicelli/ Base Preparation

350 Gms Vermicelli

1/2 Cup Butter (salted or unsalted)

1/8 Tsp Orange Food Colour

Pista Powder for Garnishing

Steps for Arabic KUNAFA (WITHOUT OVEN)

1) In a saucepan, take milk, add sugar and cornflour. Mix everything properly and do not turn on the flame

2) After everything is mixed properly, turn on the flame on low and keep stirring continously to avoid lumps until the mixture starts to thickens.

3) Add cream cheese cube, add vanilla essence and stir till the cheese melts on low flame for 1-2 mins. Off the flame and keep it aside.

4) For Sugar Syrup take water, add sugar and bring it to boil. On a low flame now add lemon juice and cook on medium flame for 2-3 mins. Off the flame and add 1 tsp kewra water. Cover it and keep it aside.

5) In a bowl, crush the vermicelli with hands. In 1/2 cup of melted butter add 1/8 tsp of orange food colour and mix it properly. Add this mixture on vermicelli and mix with hands.

6) Grease a non stick thick based frying pan with butter and spread half of the vermicelli on the pan and make it firm/set it wit a hard based bowl/plate.

7) Pour the entire cream mixture on the vermicelli and spread it out evenly except on the edges as there are chances it may stick in the pan. Place the remaining vermicelli on the pan

8) On a low flame, let it cook for 2 mins. Take a black tava and keep the frying pan on it and on low flame let it cook for 10 mins. This is basically done to avoid the vermicelli from turning black.

9) Take another big pan, grease it with butter and flip the kunafa and keep it on low flame on black tava for atleast 10 mins like above.

10) When the kunafa is done pour the sugar syrup on it evenly as required and garnish it with pista powder

11) If you wish to bake it in an oven then bake it at 150 degree for 20 mins.
