Gur Ka Sharbat is the perfect summer drink and thirst killer. A traditional drink made with
Jaggery. A drink that can be taken anytime. It has great significance in summer due to its
soothing health benefits.
It is naturally good in vitamins and minerals. A complete summer drink that purifies the blood,
regulates the functioning of the liver, and eventually keeps your body healthy.
I have my childhood memories with this sharbat. This was made during summers at our home
and a must-have sharbat at our Iftar table.
Everyone loves Gur ka Sharbat and it was instructed us to have it on the table for all 30 days of
Ramadan as it helps you regain your energy.
Gur ka sharbat, is the most energetic and refreshing natural energy drink. Jaggery juice tastes
very rustic and earthen. It is healthy and helps cool the bodys heat.
'Gur ka pani', gol pani, jaggery water or jaggery juice is nothing but jaggery dissolved in lots of
water. When you chill this drink, it is amazingly cooling and a must for Ramadan Iftar. Gud ka
sharbat is an unbeatable summer drink especially when a heatwave hits the country.
Jaggery is a substitute for sugar & is best for health as well. It helps in controlling your blood
sugar. It keeps your body cool. After running your bike in the sun, this drink can surely make
you hydrated.It boosts immunity, detoxifies your body, prevents your joint pain, helps in
digestion, increases body metabolism.
Jaggery or Gur ka Sherbet is a traditional drink that can be consumed any time in the day and
replenishes your body in the sweltering heat. A quick drink to make, it requires you to mix water
and gur until the gur completely dissolves and it develops a light brownish hue, but you can
adjust it based on how sweet you want your drink. Add a dash of lemon juice for some tang and
its done.

Ingredients
1 cup of Jaggery
Piece of Ginger
1/3rd cup of Fresh Mint Leaves
1 tablespoon of Fennel powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
Juice of 2 Lemons
Basil seeds
Steps
Soak some basil seeds in water and keep it for 15 minutes.
Cut 1 cup jaggery into small pieces, put them in a blender add 1/3rd cup fresh mint leaves, 1/2 tsp black salt (if you do not have black salt you can use regular salt also) a piece of Ginger cut into small pieces, 1 tbsp fennel powder, juice of 2 lemons and 1 cup cold water.
Grind all this into a fine mixture.
After grinding the mixture strain, it with a strainer and discard the remaining pulp.
Now add some ice cubes and 1 litre water and mix it.
Now add the soaked basil seeds to the sharbat mix it and serve chilled.
Jaggery sherbet has a cooling effect on the body and is hence recommended as a summer drink.
Jaggery is not only a great replacement for refined sugar but it is also rich in iron and fibre as well. It aids digestion and helps prevent a number of ailments as well!

*For most results use fresh and pure jaggery without soda available usually in winters. *Having jaggery after lunch and dinner prevents constipation by activating digestive enzymes. *It heals flu-like symptoms, prevents respiratory disease. *It detoxifies the liver and cleanses the body. *Being high in iron jaggery also prevents anemia. *It also boosts immunity. *It is also high in potassium and helps weight loss by reducing water retention and building muscles. *It is a natural sweetener. *The color of your jaggery drink depends on the type of jaggery used.
Tips To Remember
*Soak the cubes of jaggery in water for around two hours to save you the effort of either grating or mixing the jaggery. *You can melt the jaggery with some water in the heat. This creates jaggery molasses that can be stored for a few months. Use this to make a jaggery drink or as a sweetener. *Do not soak the basil seeds for more time or else they will turn sticky and gelatine-like. *For more variation, you can add cashew, mint, cumin and black salt to add striking flavor to the jaggery water.
