Today, we are making creamy and delicious homemade Hummus, a popular Middle Eastern dip that tastes absolutely amazing with fresh pita bread, crackers, or vegetable sticks. This easy hummus recipe uses simple ingredients and gives you a smooth, rich, and creamy texture.
We will start by preparing homemade tahini paste using roasted sesame seeds and a little oil. Lightly roast the sesame seeds on a low flame for 1–2 minutes, allowing them to release their nutty aroma without changing their colour too much. Grind them with oil until you get a fine, smooth paste.
Next, add boiled chickpeas, homemade tahini, and the remaining ingredients to a mixer grinder. For the best results, soak the chickpeas for 6–8 hours and pressure cook them with salt for 5–6 whistles until soft. Drain the cooking water before grinding.
Blend everything until smooth, adding a little cold water as needed to achieve the perfect consistency. The result is beautifully creamy, silky, and flavourful homemade hummus.
Serve this delicious dip with warm pita bread, fresh vegetables, or your favourite snacks. Once you try this simple homemade hummus recipe, you may never want to buy store-bought hummus again!
