Dal is a dish which is mostly present in the meal of every Indian household. There is a variety of ways in which Dals are prepared. This particular recipe includes drumsticks with dal. A very healthy option of course.

Ingredients
¾ Cup Split Pigeon Peas / Tur Dal
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
Salt to taste
½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
2 Green Chillies crushed
1 Onion sliced
1 Tsp Cumin
1 Tomato Chopped
1 Tbsp Oil
4 Drum Sticks
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Some Coriander
For Tadka
2 Tbsp Oil
1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
10 to 12 Curry Leaves
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
Steps
Wash and soak the Tur dal for one hour.
Note: You can also soak the Dal for 15 minutes in warm water.
In a pressure cooker add the dal, ginger/ garlic paste, turmeric, green chillies, onion slices, Cumin seeds, chopped tomatoes, one tablespoon oil and 600 ml of water. Cook everything till 2 -3 whistles.
Allow the pressure to release naturally and then open the lid. Whisk The Dal slightly, do not blend it completely.
Add drumsticks and cook for 6 to 7 minutes till the drumsticks are cooked add coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
In a pan heat oil and garlic, till golden, add curry leaves and red chilli powder. Immediately pour this over the dal and keep the lid closed for 5 minutes.
So that Aroma and flavours from the Tadka get infused in the dal.
