Restaurant Style Dal Tadka Recipe

1 Cup Pigeon Peas
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
Salt
1-2 Tsp Oil
2 Tbsp Oil
2 Tbsp Ghee
1 Tbsp Chopped Garlic
1 Tbsp Chopped Ginger
Pinch Of Asafoetida
10-12 Curry Leaves
1 Tsp Cumin
1 Onion
1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
1/4th Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Coriander Powder
1 Tomato
3-4 Green Chillies Chopped
Salt
Coriander Leaves
1 Tbsp Ghee
1/4th Tsp Cumin
2-3 Dried Red Chillies
1/4th Tsp Red Chilli Powder
Steps
1. Take 200gms Pigeon Peas in pressure cooker and soaked in 3 cups water for an hour. After 1 hour add Turmeric powder, Salt, Oil and cook for 3-4 whistles.
2. In a wok heat 2Tbsp Oil and 2Tbsp Ghee, put chopped Ginger, chopped Garlic, Pinch of Asafoetida, 10-12 Curry Leaves and Cumin. Saute everything for a minute.
3. Put chopped Onion and cook until translucent for 1-2 minutes. Add Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder and cook for 1 minute on low flame.
4. Add chopped Tomato, Green Chillies and Salt. Cover with the lid and let it cook for 4-5 minutes on low flame. Keep checking in between and add water if required.
5. After 4 whistles, Dal is cooked properly and blend it with the help of whisk. Add 1 cup Water and mix it.
6. After 5 minutes, tomato and Masalas are cooked properly. Now pour the dal on the tomato mixture.
7. Add chopped Coriander Leaves and increase the flame. Mix everything well and let it cook for 4 minutes.
8. For Tempering (Tadka)- In a pan heat 1 Tbsp Ghee and add Cumin. Once it starts changing the color off the flame and add Dried Red Chillies, Red Chilli Powder. Now pour it on the dal.
9. Dal Tadka is ready to serve with Zeera Rice and Pappad.
